We're Introducing A New Vocal Training & Scam Awareness Program To Senior Living Community Residents
Senior living communities strive to provide a vibrant social calendar that promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being while ensuring residents' safety. A gap exists in integrating engaging, quality activities with critical, up-to-date scam prevention education. Our proposed program addresses both needs simultaneously, offering a unique value that enhances quality of life and builds a community of informed, resilient residents. Read on to learn more...
Who We Are
VocalzMusic & Publishing is a small, family-owned business established in Fairfax County, Virginia, in 2004. We specialize in voice coaching and artist development services. Our official website is VocalzMusic.com and SingingFlat.com, however soon we'll introduce a new website domain that is specifically for the Senior Living Community for easier access.
Since 2014, we've provided voice lessons and performance coaching to individuals of all ages and competency levels through video conferencing software like Zoom, allowing us to connect with clients throughout the U.S. We have effectively trained singers, actors, voice artists, poets, pageant contestants, and public speakers in both private and classroom settings. Now, for the first time, we are excited to introduce a new program, "Voice Lessons And Tea" tailored specifically for senior citizens who enjoy singing or public speaking and wish to learn the art and technical aspects of live performance.
What We're Seeking
We're looking for a few senior living communities and non-profit programs serving independent senior citizens in the U.S that would be interested in integrating our performing arts and scam prevention services (described below) into their program listings making us accessible to their residents using tools like Zoom and social media. We'd like to arrange a special limited edition trial period for participants to experience a few of our Zoom classes, so that we can measure our success using surveys and other reporting before we commit fully to launching this class. Teaching voice lessons and developing community programs for diverse communities isn't new to us, however offering voice lessons tailored to older adults and merging it with scam prevention tips is new and exciting for us and your acceptance will allow us a chance to pilot the class long enough to ensure that we can make a positive impact within your senior living community. It'll also help us determine how to best deliver our services. We'd like to begin testing right away and then following testing, we'd like to announce an official start date, should testing prove to be successful and beneficial to all involved.
About "Voice Lessons & Tea"
The Solution: "Voice Lessons & Tea" Program
We propose a program of virtual voice lessons delivered via Zoom, designed to engage residents in a fun, creative activity that also empowers them with vital safety knowledge. The "Tea" is the latest scam prevention information however, we also encourage residents to literally bring a cup of tea to sip during our sessions, if they'd like. Each session of "Voice Lessons & Tea" will follow a clear, engaging format:
-
Scam Awareness Alert (3 -10 minutes): Each class and private session will begin with a brief, relevant, and easy-to-understand alert on a common or emerging scam targeting older adults (e.g., imposter scams, phishing). The focus is on empowering residents with simple verification techniques, like "hang up and call the family member personally".
-
Virtual Voice Lessons (40 to 50 minutes depending on the number of participants or session type): The core of the program will be group voice instruction consisting of vocal aerobics and creative vocalization, proven to enhance emotional well-being and social interaction while improving vocal performance, however we will also offer a private 1:1 learning option with the expert voice coach. The program is accessible to independent seniors and older adults 50 and up, of all singing and public speaking skill levels and will be delivered virtually to easily reach residents in their homes, rooms or a common area.
Key Benefits for Residents and Management
-
Enhanced Well-being: Promotes mental stimulation, social connection, and creative expression through music and creative speaking. Sessions address mental health by improving cognitive function, reducing isolation through friendly companionship, helps to sustain memory and boosting resident happiness, which are benefits senior living facilities value.
-
Increased Safety and Security: Proactively equips residents with the skills to identify and avoid financial exploitation, reducing risk to residents and the facility's reputation.
-
Innovation: Aligns the community with an innovative, technology-integrated approach to resident services that addresses a pressing, real-world issue.
-
Scalability & Flexibility: The Zoom format allows for easy implementation across different sections of the community with minimal logistical burden.
-
An Expert Instructor: The voice coach and program coordinator, Sally B. Waller, has substantial caregiving and community programming experience, has worked in the music and entertainment industry for over 35 years and is an advocate against elder abuse, fraud and financial exploitation against seniors. Her most famous senior client was Bunny DeBarge of the legendary Motown singing group, "DeBarge" whom she worked with for many years, alerting and protecting her from book publishing scams and social media scams as well as coaching her in preparation for public interviews.
