It's true. I use to wish I had parents like Beyonce and Jay-Z lol. Wouldn't that be just lovely? Both of my parents were quite interesting. Boy have I got some cool stories to share with y'all about my dad. I sure miss him! He passed away from Dementia in 2018. But today I'd like to talk about my mom a little more. I had to become an adult and experience my own hardships and mental health challenges to fully appreciate my mom. She served a great purpose during her lifetime. A meaningful one. I understand why she couldn't get out of bed and even why she wouldn't take her meds. I know how hard she fought to be my mother. Today I realize how amazing she really was so I honor her through writing and I try to find something to laugh about every day. My mom was funny as hell. I wish y'all could've met her before she died in 2008. To know me is to know her.

According to various articles I've come across on the internet, it's a long-term mental disorder involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion and behavior leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawals from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentations. Yup. That about sums it up. That's what my mom suffered with for most of her life. Fortunately me nor any of my children inherited that terrible illness. I'll be sharing more on this topic in an upcoming blog.
